Thesis abstractSatanism in black metal
Black metal is one of the younger heavy metal subgenres and is most often associated with church arsons, grave desecrations and devil worship. Even though there is plenty of material written about heavy metal in general, very little touches upon black metal despite its early controversies. This thesis will thus attempt to correct some of these problems by presenting a symbolic anthropology and gender take on black metal.
